    Planets

A planet is a celestial body that orbits a star, is massive enough to achieve a nearly round shape through its own gravity, and has cleared its orbital path of other debris. The Solar System comprises eight planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Beyond our Solar System, thousands of exoplanets have been identified, exhibiting a diverse range of characteristics.
