Yemen
Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen, is a country at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula with coasts on the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Its history spans ancient South Arabian kingdoms and Islamic-era polities to the modern unification of North and South Yemen in 1990. Since 2014, the country has faced protracted conflict, fragmented governance, and one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Yemen’s geography includes the biodiverse Socotra Archipelago and the strategic Bab el‑Mandeb strait, a key chokepoint for global shipping.
