Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is an infectious illness caused by the bacterium *Borrelia burgdorferi*, transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. It is the most common tick-borne disease in the United States, with symptoms ranging from fever and fatigue to more severe complications affecting the joints, heart, and nervous system if left untreated.
