Baroque art
Baroque art is a European style that emerged in late 16th‑century Italy and flourished through the 17th century, extending in some regions into the 18th century. It is characterized by dramatic movement, strong contrasts of light and shadow, rich ornament, and a synthesis of painting, sculpture, and architecture in the service of religious devotion and princely power.
