    United Nations Environment Programme

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the UN’s leading global authority on the environment, established in 1972 after the Stockholm Conference to coordinate environmental action and science across the UN system. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, it is governed by the United Nations Environment Assembly and led by Executive Director Inger Andersen, with a mandate focused on the ‘triple planetary crisis’ of climate change, nature loss, and pollution.
