Sentinel lymph node biopsy
Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is a surgical staging technique that identifies and analyzes the first lymph node(s) draining a primary tumor to determine regional metastasis. It is widely used in breast cancer and melanoma, with growing roles in gynecologic and head and neck malignancies, and helps reduce the morbidity of more extensive nodal surgery by selectively targeting key nodes.
