    Blaise Pascal

Blaise Pascal (1623–1662) was a French mathematician, physicist, inventor and religious writer whose work shaped projective geometry, fluid mechanics, probability theory and classical French prose. He devised an early mechanical calculator (the Pascaline), formulated Pascal’s law in hydrostatics, pioneered barometric experiments, and authored the Provincial Letters and the posthumously published Pensées, which includes the famed Pascal’s wager.
