Encyclopædia Britannica is an English-language general reference work first published in Edinburgh between 1768 and 1771 and later based in the United States. Long issued in multivolume print sets, it reorganized its structure with the influential 15th edition (1974) and discontinued print publication in 2012 to focus on digital products and education technology.
